Nuclear Free Bataan Movement Vice Chairperson Atty Dante Ilaya says:
“What can be expected of KEPCO? It has shown great interest in operating BNPP right from the start. But in the end, it will be the people who will ultimately decide the fate of BNPP.”
According to NFBM, the passage of time has not dulled the fervor and the resistance of the residents who value their lives and livelihood over flimsy promises from sectors and personalities bent on earning pesos from other people’s misfortunes.
Also, NFBM Chairperson Monsignor Tony Dumaual pointed out the earlier findings of three previous groups of experts and scientists that the BNPP has 4,000 defects.
“We were not able to cope with the recent calamity (of Ondoy).Paano kaya kung (disaster mula) sa BNPP pa? [What more if it was from BNPP?], ” added the Catholic priest who was assigned to the parish in Morong when the BNPP was being constructed.
Dumaual warned the public that the unknowing and naïve may be fooled into accepting the BNPP saying,” KEPCO is not independent but an interested party,”
About NFBM:
At present, NFBM Net has chapters and affiliates that have saturated the province of Bataan and nearby provinces of Central Luzon and some areas of Metro Manila, generating enough pressure to waylay attempts of pro-BNPP legislators led by Cong. Mark Cojuangco to push the operation of the BNPP.
